Our Carers

Carer, home care assistant, chaperone; whatever you call us, our carers are real people, with stories, interests, plans and histories. With us, there’s no stranger syndrome. Here at Custos Care, we pride ourselves on knowing one another. Our carers regularly meet for meals, advice sharing, and wellness treatments. If one of us were to cover the other, odds are, we’d know each other.

William O’Keeffe

Will began care work in his early twenties following his BA in Theatre Studies.

He began work for a local branch of a care agency franchise and found that he loved the work, but the pay was dismal. After some years, Will was being asked by lots of clients to be taken on privately, and finally, Will began Custos Care so that carers could work together to self-organize and reap the rewards to the exclusion of the typical agency models currently available on the market. In addition to his care work Will loves anything outdoors. Camping, fishing, climbing, gardening; are all passions of his, he also feels it's necessary to stress the fact that he loves dogs and has a Springer Spaniel called Milly, who often accompanies him on his visits (on request).

Will's dream is to grow his own food somewhere in the UK. He has started with his front garden. Tomorrow, the world.

“I’ve had clients who’ve forgotten their friends, their family, even their life-partners. But I’ve never met anyone who’s forgotten their love of dogs.”

- William O’Keeffe

Lottie

Lottie is from Warwickshire and joined us at the start of 2023. Beyond her admin duties as Company Secretary she found a love for providing companionship through her role.

After initially working for a marketing firm, Lottie felt she could make more of a difference working somewhere that was person centred. She now enjoys coming home feeling like she has helped make at least one persons day easier.

When she’s not found glued to the Custos emails, Lottie loves attending art exhibitions, reading and spending time with her friends.

Carl

Carl started work in the care sector while studying Business Management. Working evenings and weekends as an assistant on a Psychiatric ward. Carl went on to develop a career establishing specialist recruitment divisions in supported housing for the vulnerable across the UK.

Moving into the Work and Health programme, Carl trained and managed teams to assess and progress vulnerable adults with various needs. As a regular volunteer, he recently completed a ten-month project with acute mental health patients at St Charles hospital. Carl has now moved his eagle eye onto Custos Care taking on the position of Services Manager.

Kei

Kei is a trainee Gestalt therapist working towards her Diploma in Counseling, living in Parsons Green. She spent over a decade doing digital marketing for brands, then realised her need to spend quality time with people was outweighing her interest in advertising.

She grew up with an artistic Japanese mother who taught her how to draw and appreciate art, while her English father’s international maritime career meant she got to travel extensively. Aside from art Kei is interested in everything from languages to food, but overall is happy to hear other people’s stories.

Kei has now worked with us for almost a year and has had nothing but positive comments from her clients and fellow carers. Kei can help with anything from companionship and administrative help to good company and a walk in the park.

Margaret

Margaret is a professional independent mediator and researcher with a background in disability rights and equalities. She is an accredited elder mediator, and in her mediation work she helps resolve disputes that individuals have with companies, public agencies, neighbours, and others. She is also a keen attender of art exhibitions and has been a volunteer Welcoming Ambassador at the Victoria & Albert Museum for 10 years.

Her care and support experience includes being an NHS Responder during Covid and has taken on various befriending roles during her time at Custos Care. Margaret is a keen advocate for older people in her community. She enjoys travel, the arts, books, plants, and people. She lives in Fulham with her husband, a travel writer, and their cat, and she has a grown-up daughter.

Jean

Jeannie is from London and is married with 3 grown up boys. Her first interest and passion was for theatre and acting, but she realised a long time ago that what was most important, was being with, and trying to help people.

Jeannie trained at St Mary’s Paddington in the 1980’s and worked as an RGN (registered general nurse) in the early 90’s. She has worked in various care giving roles since then. She trained as a Dramatherapist in the area of Adult Mental Health (whilst bringing up her children) and has experience in working with people with mental health problems.

Since 2019, Jeannie has enjoyed working as a carer and we have had the pleasure of her services at Custos Care since 2022. Jean has worked with a multitude of clients and has always been praised for her positive attitude and gentle presence.

Jake

Jake has a background in both the modelling industry, in which he travelled the world for 9 years, as well as DJing for various top hotels and fashion brands. He has 2 years experience providing personal care for a family member who has dementia, and in doing this found a real interest in helping others this way.

Jake enjoys country walks and is a big fan of animals, as well as this he is a well rounded sportsman, playing for Leicester city and Peterborough United during his youth, alongside his Athletic achievements winning regional titles for the 400ms.

Jake has now worked with Custos Care for just over 3 months and has been nothing short of a delight with his clients.

Emma

Emma grew up in Hampshire, has travelled widely, and would love to have more (glamping style) adventures. Emma is a professional actress and an English Literature graduate who very much enjoys her meaningful “day job” with Custos Care and the intergenerational friendships it affords. She brings her warmth, sense of humour, creativity and ability to muck in and attune to someone’s needs. In her free time she loves the cinema, theatre, staying fit and healthy, reading a good book, and a therapeutic declutter!

Emma has been with Custos Care for almost a year now and had been dedicated to her regular client since the start. Emma is a pleasure for anyone to have around and has been highly commended by her client.

Wills T.

Wills is of Scottish heritage and was born in the Cook Islands, though raised in New Zealand. He graduated from The New Zealand School of Dance to become a professional contemporary dancer with Limbs Dance Company.

Wills then moved on to London to broaden his horizons, qualifying as massage therapist soon after. Becoming a caregiver was the natural next step as he wanted to empower his patients, and noticed social interaction and companionship can have a real positive effect on his clients wellbeing. Wills was one of the very first to join us here at Custos Care and has been a loyal and hardworking carer for over two years.

Wills is patient, motivated and empathetic with a great attention to detail. He is also adaptable and hard working giving him all the qualities of a great carer.

João

An enthusiastic young man who joined Custos Care whilst living in London, doing his Masters Degree in music composition for film. His passion for care work began as a primary and secondary school teacher, where he learnt the importance of empathy and patience across a diverse range of settings. When he’s not writing music, Joao enjoys going to the theater and the opera, long walks in nature, and reading. He dreams of winning an Oscar, and opening an organic farm back in his home country, Portugal.

Tatevik

Tatevik lived and worked in Armenia, specialising in history and archeology, as well as teaching and working with children. She then went on to taking care of the elderly as a private caregiver. In 2013 she moved to London to live with her best friend, a 93-year-old cardiology MD, going on to then take care of him for 7 years. Tatevik stayed with him, and he spent his last 3 years in bed until his passing at the age of 99. After this, she found Custos Care and began working with us from 2021, which in her words she is doing with great pleasure.

Aleksandra

An artist and mother of one living in Shepherds Bush. Aleksandra came into care having been a chaperone to school children for 6 years prior. She found that there were a lot of transferable skills on top of the skills she picked up while being a carer for her mother. Prior to all of this Aleksandra had trained in the arts having attained a degree in Sculpture from the Camberwell College of Art. In her free time she enjoys gardening, reading, hiking, and cooking.

Dragoș

Dragoș is a 26 y/o carer and actor, born in Romania and raised in Spain. He travelled to London 5 years ago to learn the English language and pursue a dream — Acting.
